The new financial quarter saw Setu complete its 10th years of Service to the Under-served. Employees of Setu celebrate the 10th Founders day a milestone in the history of Setu. The celebrations started with the messages of the Trustees to the team, followed by a journey into the past, dance, skit performances, games /activities and a lot of fun and food. The event concluded with the Founder Days Award ceremony were the exceptional and outstanding employees were applauded for their contribution during the year as well over the last 10 years. It was a grand celebration time.
The President of Fidelity International Brian Conroy and Lorraine Rodrigues, Country General Manager visited Setu. During their visit they interacted with the school children as well as distributed certificates to the Tailoring and Basic IT students at the convocation. The school children also performed for the esteemed guests.
Empowerment thru Skilling : The period April to June 2017 set the ball rolling for the year 2017-2018 and at all Centres. The focus for the year shall was Placement and Process compliance. During the quarter we enrolled around 530 students across all centres, 260 students were certified and 166 students placed. The focus being Women empowerment.
Apart from the normal routine of enrolment, examination certification and placements may other activities were conducted at the skill centres.
Health Camp : A Cardiac Care Camp was organised by Setu along with our Partners Metro Hospitals Noida at Sadarpur Colony Noida. Over 150 residents and skill students were covered thru proper checkup and advice by doctors. The Students of the Setu Health Care course assisted in conducting the tests and were actually instrumental in making the camp a success.
In another health camp held on 22nd April the Students of the Health Care batch at the Setu Skill Centre Sadarpur helped and assisted the doctors from our Partners Saket City Hospital during a General Health Camp. It was a great learning experience for all the students. Our students were examined during the camp. They were given free medicines also.

Blood Donation Camps: Employees from Metlife Gosc donated 250 units blood at the Voluntary Blood Donation Camps organised across their Noida and Jaipur offices at the Blood Donation Camps organised with the help of Setu on the occasion of World Blood Donors Day.
International Yoga day was celebrated at all the Skill centers with over whelming participation from the students. The Women students came out in large numbers to make the event a success.
For the students at the Special Skill Center, Sadarpur we had: Our Birthday Bash of April month were treated with a party full of dance and activities followed by cake cutting on 28th April.
Dangal movie screening organized by UNESCO in collaboration with directorate of film festival at Siri fort auditorium. It was an inclusive activity for differently able people, special edition of subtitles for and sign language interpreter was there for hearing impaired. We took 10 students for the movie it was altogether a new experience for all of them as it gave them an opportunity to know the source of entertainment and interact with other students too.
Poem reciting activity for HI & MR students were organized to bring out in light their creative pinch and help them express their heart out in their own unique way.
We have also conducted 25 days of Summer Camp for the students during the summer vacation, different activates like Candle decoration, Paper Basket making, Painting, Dance were taught to them, students were full of enthusiasm and full of creative ideas.
Nutrient intake of all the students in the center is taken care of by providing food packs thrice a week, which has further helped us to make the learning process more value creating.
Guest lectures at Skill centers Many guest lectures including personality development workshops and mock interview sessions were organised across the Setu skill centres for students of IT, Health care, Tailoring and Beauty & Wellness
Guest Lecture was held for the Students of the High end Tailoring course at Sadarpur by the Special Trainer deputed by Creatnet.
The beauty and wellness students at Sadarpur Centre went thru a Guest lecture by Meenakshi Mittal on Hair Styling and Facial skills. Guest Lecture was held for the Berhampur Skill centre Students. A special Guest lecture was conducted for the Healthcare students at the Berhampur Centre along with a lecture for the IT students along with a Guest lecture on Personality Development and Grooming was organized for IT and GDA course
Mr. Arun from A. Infotech conducted session for IT students at Nithari Centre. The session provided student knowledge about the Jobs available in the market.
Employees from MetLife GOSC.... conducted Mock interview for Setu Students. Students were also given input of Interview Handling skills. The team was lead by Mr. Arvind Jena Vice President Metlife.
We thank all our volunteers for their over whelming support and commitment towards the project.
Convocation During the quarter 260 students were certified 153 in IT, in Sewing course 86 students and in GDA 21 students. Certifcate were distributed a special convocation ceremonies organised at Setu

Exposure Visit: Mock interviews were session for Skill students from the Setu Multi Skill Centre Sadarpur Colony Sector 45 Noida 201301 were conducted during an orientation visit to MetLife GOSC.... A great Learning Experience for all the Students.Students from IT and Retail course visited HYPERCITY, LOGIX Mall for practical learning experience.
Launch of a Special E-Learning course -As part of their current IT Course 48 students in two batches undergo a new nine day digital learning module to improve their e-learning skills at Sadarpur
Success stories
At our Nithari Centre a Self Help group of 7 ladies were created to help them in generating income. Their first order was to create hand bags and they successfully completed the order on time.
Meet Pinki : Pinki is from a middle class family. She is 12th pass and currently pursuing graduation. She always wanted to become independent and help her family for betterment. So, she wanted to do a job and earn for being independent as well as for improvement of her family’s condition. But she wasn’t available to find a job after completing 12th. She enrolled herself for smile course to fulfill her basic requirements of skills which is important for finding a good job. After successful completion of this course she grab job of HR at IMRB Call Center with salary of Rs. 8000/month.
Her father is doing a job. Her family’s annual income is Rs. 80,000/- which is insufficient to fulfill the basic need of a family of 6 members. It was hard for her father to take care of her family with 3 kids. Her mother is a homemaker and father is the only bread earner. She wants to improve her family’s financial condition. So she joined this course.
She is very hard working and dedicated girl who always remain eager to learn new things and try to improve her skills. After joining this course she learns to type with speed of 25 wpm. In addition she also got knowledge of personality development which helps her to improve her personality.
Meet Prem who belongs to support his father to improve his family’s financial conditions. He joined IT and retail management course and after successful completion of this course he initially joined Pacific office as Data Entry Operator, but recently started his own Cyber Café. His current income is Rs.15000 per month.
His father is washerman and mother is homemaker. His family’s annual income is Rs. 90,000/- which is insufficient to fulfill the basic needs of a family of 5 members. His father is the only earning member in the family. He wants to help his father by doing a job and wants to improve himself as well.
