Activities October to December 2019
Students school and Skill students along with their teachers organised Setu Diwali Mela for the Community at Village Nithari Noida. A day of enjoyment, fun, food, music, dance, games, gifting and finally new learning for the senior students and skill students.
Convocation at Setu : Four Hundred and Eleven students received their certificates on completion of their course across Setu Skill Centres. - At Nithari Village Centre in Noida the certificates were handed over by Mr Vivek Agrawal MD & Chairman, LIQVID - At Sadarpur Village Centre Noida the certificates were handed over by Mr. Raju Taneja and Ms Sanjina Wali Trustees Setu and - At Village Davas Centre in Jaipur Ms Neetu Kumari and Mr Ravi from Metlife Gosc presented the certificates. At all locations the Tailoring and Fashion Design students organised a cultural show and also displayed the garments they had created thru a fashion show. We wish a successful future to all the students.
9 PwD students participated in 5th Annual Special Sports Meet 2019 organized by Sunrise Learning Foundation on 7th Dec 2019 at Sarvottam International School, Greater Noida. More than 15 Schools from Delhi, Ghaziabad and Noida participated in the meet. The main objective to send our students to this sports meet was to motivate them to perform, do their best and boost their self-confidence. Our students have won 7 prize in 9 events they participated and Our team also received Good Performance Trophy. The team displayed the best of sportsman spirits and enjoyed their success. The students also participated in other activities in leisure like singing, dance and colouring. Kudos to all students – Cheers
Career counselling session: For our Skill students we arranged guest lectures in all different courses. This helps both trainers and students to upgrade their vocational skills and knowledge.
Christmas celebration across all skill center: To make their training interesting and lively trainers involve students in different activities. In this quarter we celebrated Christmas across all centers in the form of competition. Students decorated the centres according to the theme and also presented various cultural programs.
Interactive session with Stratford University: Setu Students got an opportunity to interact with foreign students studying at Stratford University and learnt about the culture of the countries they came from.
Exposure Visit of IT Students: Students of our IT Centre went on a corporate visit wherein they were explained about corporate working and corporate culture. This help motivate them to take up jobs after completing their courses.
Movie making workshop: IT students of Nithari and Sadarpur went for movie making workshop at Delhi. They learnt handling DSLR camera and were also shown Short movies.
Success stories
1. Shivani is a 19 years old responsible girl who is moving ahead in the race of life with full determination & commitment. Shivani lives in a village called as Nithari with her family of 4. Both of her parents are working with the thought of giving a better life to their children. Shivani also has a younger brother who is studying in 12th class. Shivani’s mother works in Kavita Enterprises, an electronic company where she get Rs. 9000 per month as salary. Her father works in an export company as Export Incharge at a salary of Rs. 12,000 per month. The family lives in a rented house paying Rs. 4500 as rent per month. Shivani could see her parents struggling financially to give a better life to her & her brother & so she decided to work after completing her 12th.
Shivani joined SETU center in January 2019. She got to know about the training program from a friend who also took training from the center. Her reasons for joining this program was simple; she wanted to improve her computer skills & wanted a job related to computers. She has this dream of being a MIS Executive in a big company one day.
She joined NSB BPO in the month of May’19 as a Data Entry operator where she currently get Rs. 9000 per month With her current job as Data Entry operator with NSB BPO & her dedication to grow every day, it seems that the day is not far when she’ll be living her dream.
Shivani feels that she has become more career oriented & focused after attending the training program & getting a job she wanted. She was a regular student during her training & now she is maintaining the regularity at her workplace; she enjoys the appreciation that she gets when she is able to complete her work on time.
2. Manju Devi always wants to become independent and help her family for betterment so she enrolled herself for Sewing course so that she can learn basic concepts and equipment’s used in her profession which is important for finding a good job. After successful completion of Sewing course from SETU. She worked hard by stitching and now is a self-employed and works from home and earns Rs 3000/Month.
Her Husband works as Shopkeeper. Her family’s annual income is Rs. 80,000/- which is insufficient to fulfill the basic need of a family of 8 members. She always wants to improve her family’s financial condition. So she joined this course. Her family income has increased by 25% after completing this course and doing her work.
She was very hard working and dedicated women who always remain eager to learn new thing. After joining this course she learns basic knowledge of sewing to improve her skills. In addition she also got knowledge of personality development which helps her to improve her personality.
