Yeah, you! Our first picture is an outstanding representation of what your generosity does for abandoned and neglected boxers AND in turn, the humans who LOVE them. Meet Emmy and her best friend JuneBug.
JuneBug was an owner surrender. We were told she was a biter and didn’t like kids or women. Well, after a couple of weeks in foster care her foster Mom said: “Fooey, she is just fine”. We listed her available for adoption, along came Emmy’s Mom and a match was made. JuneBug has been the most loving pup and best friend to her little girl. Like all of us, a different environment and some time to adjust could be all we need. Without the option to surrender to rescue this pup would have ended up in a shelter noted to have bite history or free on Craigslist and who knows where an animal goes from there.
Wigglin' Home Boxer Rescue is in operation, and able to give pups like JuneBug a second chance, because of your generosity. Give yourself a pat on the back, we'll wait, go ahead!
Done? Alright, we hope everyone is doing well and ready for spring. I reside in Central Oregon where spring can’t quite decide if it’s here or not. Beautiful yesterday, blizzard today. Ah well. Let’s catch up.
Bunny and her pups had arrived from Korea (seems so long ago). Since our last report, they have all been adopted, Bunny being the last. She is a character and we can’t get enough of her antics. Thankfully her Mom posts pictures often for us.
Neo, what a sad boy when he came in. So very much wrong with him due to horrific living conditions. He has undergone two surgeries too cringing to talk about. One more and we think he will be in the clear. Help us find his furever home?
Bodey is an owner surrender. When our volunteer transport member arrived to pick him up it took one look to know he would be heading immediately to a vet with his charge. Bodey was so weak, 35lbs underweight, and passing blood. His transporter and his wife ended up being Bodey’s foster parents as they are one of our medically fragile foster homes. Wow, what a month can do for a pup with the right love and care. This boy is ready for his forever home (with no cats!).
Wags to Riches, our annual fundraiser, was a hoot! In its second year, our volunteers pulled together and made the event ten-fold what it was last year. We live auctioned five vacation homes, a silent auction for nearly 100 amazing items, as well as a dessert auction. The dessert auction really brought out the competitive side of our members and guests, wooo wee! I'll include a picture of one of the donated cakes to give you an idea of the quality. In conjunction with the auctions, we had a beer and wine event raising another handsome sum in the name of needy pups. We will keep you posted for next year’s event and if you can make it, by all means, come meet us and have a great time!
In Memory Donations. We receive many donations with an 'In Memory of' note. It didn't seem enough to write a thank you note and our condolences. What to do? We don't have a memory wall, it would be great to have one but operating through so many states where would we put one? Should we have one online? How best to carry on these names? Until we come up with a better idea we've started keeping track of the 'In Memory' names and when a pup comes in without a name we pull from that list. What better way to carry on the name of a loved pup than to pass it to a pup who needs a name.
Oh and I almost closed without telling you the great news! In February we were, once again, given the award of TOP ANIMAL RESCUE GROUP (page 8) by Spot Magazine AND..... wait for it.... DeAnn King, our founder, and president was awarded RESCUE ROCKSTAR (PAGE 18)! Winning in 2017 and 2019 is pretty fantastic for a three-year-old rescue! Yep, we are pretty proud of our team for not only their dedication to abused and neglected boxers but that they show you, our supporters that your generosity is working. Your support of the work we do has results, big results. Gulk I'm getting teary-eyed.
Ok... enough of my gushing. Have a great spring. Follow us on Facebook to catch our day by day goings-ons and we will see you with another report in a few months!
THANK YOU!
