Support Educational Equity for Bay Area Children

Beneath the busy tech hubs of the San Francisco Bay Area, a stark reality remains: many local families find themselves navigating significant financial challenges. For families living paycheck to paycheck, soaring inflation can make essential school supplies seem like an unaffordable luxury. When a child goes without a backpack and the tools they need for school, it can impact their learning experience in significant ways.

• Limited Learning Opportunities: Without  the essential supplies, homework may go unfinished because of fewer opportunities to engage in assignments. By third grade, students with fewer resources may face disparities in learning, some averaging about two years behind peers in reading and math.
• Loss of Confidence: The lack of basic supplies needed for school can erode a student's self-esteem and enthusiasm for learning, affecting their ability to fully show up in learning environments.

While students are on their summer break, we at the Family Giving Tree are actively preparing for the upcoming school year at our Community Hub. Our goal is to provide 35,000 Bay Areastudents with high-quality backpacks and supplies to support their success and well-being.
