Wheels to Africa will be collecting gently used shoes to fund our annual bike distribution in Tanzania in July of 2016. The shoe drive will be held in various locations in the metro DC area as well as other locations in the United States.
In July, Wheels to Africa will be sending bikes to rural communities in Tanzania as well as supporting the "Under the Same Sun Project" that works with albinism education. "In many parts of Africa people with albinism are misunderstood, disadvantaged, and even attacked and killed. Their body parts are sold to witchdoctors for use in charms and magical potions believed to bring wealth and good luck." (Quote from the website of Under the Same Sun)
We will send out information on the shoe collection and our upcoming trip soon. If you are interested in traveling to Tanzania for a trip of a lifetime please contact Dixie Duncan, dixieduncan94@gmail.com.
