The Hopi Arsenic Mitiagation Project is to improve the water infrastructure from high levels of arsenic in the First and Second Mesa areas of the Hopi reservation. In May of 2022 an 8.72 million dollar Biden Bipartison investment was to be use to connect 3 BIA owned water systems with a regional water system owned by the Indian Health Service and EPA. This would bring clean water to the communities of First and Second Mesa areas. Another 6.6 million dollar investment was granted just recently back in May of this year to connect the Keams Canyon water infrastructure to the HAMP Project waterline.
The Clean Water Foundation continues to create amazing fundraising events to help children around the world get clean water to drink. As reported in the last report that the Clean Water Foundation held two fundraisers and with that 44 water filters and filter systems were sent to Hopi. Since then, another two events were held at the end of May and another in July in which another 20 more water filter systems were sent to Hopi. Now we are getting ready for a fundraising event to be held in beautiful Sedona, AZ on September 16th and 17th, this is being presented by Sedona Spotlight, another one of our non-profit groups.
I myself have been busy with the filter project here in Hopi with continued installations of water filter systems around Hopi from the funds received at the fundraising events and your continued support through the GlobalGiving website. We have also be doing some water filter testing of the units including those from the 5 stage reverse osmosis systems. I also have been giving some time helping with a St. Mary's Food Distribution for the Tewa Village, at least two days out of the month.
