Thanks to your support, 500 women farmers in Guinea-Bissau are building more resilient livelihoods and improving food security for their families.
Over the past six months, women across 12 communities have been learning climate-smart farming techniques—such as better soil management, crop diversification, and organic fertiliser use. These changes are already leading to stronger harvests and greater confidence among participants.
Access to seeds and farming tools has helped women increase production, and many groups are now successfully managing shared gardens. Community savings have also grown over the past 12 months to over 2.2 million XOF (£3,000), showing strong commitment and local ownership.
Water access remains a key focus. While solar-powered systems are in place, some communities face challenges with pump capacity and water flow. We are currently working on upgrades to improve irrigation and reliability.
One of the biggest challenges ahead is helping women access markets. Although they are producing surplus crops, limited transport makes it difficult to sell their produce. We are developing solutions to connect farmers to larger markets and increase their incomes.
Next, we will expand training in food preservation and small businesses—helping reduce waste and create new income opportunities.
Your support is helping women farmers not only grow food—but build resilience, independence, and hope for the future. Thank you.
