The Sega Girls School rainwater capture system will be ready to collect and store rainwater in the Tanzanian wet season early in 2013.
Guttering has been placed on all of the campus buildings to collect rainwater and feed it to a 300,000 liter underground storage tank, which is under construction.
Water from the tank will be pumped (by solar energy) to the water tower, and from there to all of the campus buildings.
This will provide a renewable water source for the School, saving the cost of purchasing trucked-in water (currently over $500 a month and increasing as the School expands), and allowing the students to irrigate their organic gardens year-round to supply fresh fruit and vegetables for the School.
Thank you so much for helping to make this happen!
