Work on Water Tower Proceeds

By Jean Semler | President ChangeALife Uganda

Nasir Uddin and Ugandan team visit water tower.

Nasir Uddin from Empower Energy Group, a CALU partner traveled to Uganda this week to visit our water project in Migyera.  With the funding sent in Novermber, it is exciting to report that construction has resumed on the project and progress is evident.  Nasir is standing with our Ugandan team in front of the recently constructed security fence at the water tower site.  In addition to the fence, the contractors have installed the required plumbing at the water tower which will connect it to the pipes and carry water from the well located 1.5 miles away. The contractors now are installing plumbing at the well site.  After a short holiday break, work will continue.  As the project progresses, local townspeople will be hired to dig the trenches thereby increasing the community's participation and commitment to this valuable community asset.  With over $3,000 already donated, we are hopeful that the remaining funding from our Global Giving project will allows us to complete the project and finally bring clean water to our chlldren and health center.
