The past quarter has been a period of significant achievement as we finalized several clean water projects in Sidama and Southern Ethiopia. Following through on our commitment to these communities, we have successfully handed over the reins to local leadership, ensuring they have the tools to manage their own resources.
In the development sector, especially in the WASH sector, the main challenge is always sustainability in ensuring that every clean water project implementation continues to serve the community for years to come. To address this, we are prioritizing the engagement of the next generation through our AAC (Aware, Activate, Change) program. This initiative is dedicated to helping university students become water-conscious of their environment, and we have already established chapters in three universities, with a fourth currently in development. These chapters have hosted events reaching nearly 2,000 students, focusing on our mission and values. It is truly a heartwarming sight to see these students carving out their own space in the vision we established years ago, with chapters already leading their own training sessions and community outreach programs.
Looking forward, we are excited to begin work on new projects in the Oromia and Harar regions. Preparations are underway to begin work, and we expect to move into the implementation phase shortly, applying the lessons learned in Sidama to these new project sites.
This quarter was also amazing, with the receipt of the incredible news that we were selected as GlobalGiving's "Project of the Month" for March. This recognition and the accompanying grant are deeply meaningful to us, as GlobalGiving has always provided a vital platform to amplify our voice and reach a wider audience. We remain profoundly grateful for this support and the trust our partners place in us.
As we celebrate our 17th anniversary this April, we look back with humility on all we have achieved. We are grateful to the partners who have stood in our corner through every milestone, and we look forward to many more years of success together.
Clean water for all, always.
