Thanks to your support, healthcare access and hygiene conditions at Manambaro CSB have improved for staff and patients in rural southeast Madagascar.
Through the CSB Strengthening project, SEED Madagascar upgraded sanitation, water access, and healthcare infrastructure at the community health centre, which serves around 190 patients each week.
The project repaired six latrine cubicles and constructed a new menstrual hygiene management (MHM) and shower facility, providing safer and more dignified sanitation for staff and patients. Handwashing stations were also installed to encourage good hygiene practices and reduce disease transmission.
To improve access to clean water, SEED installed a 10,000-litre rainwater harvesting system in partnership with Tatirano Social Enterprise. The system now supplies safe drinking water and running water to sanitation facilities and handwashing stations, helping reduce WASH-related illnesses while supporting long-term sustainability through ongoing maintenance and monitoring.
The project also strengthened healthcare delivery through the construction of a staff accommodation building, allowing healthcare workers to remain on-site and respond more effectively to emergencies, particularly at night. In addition, SEED facilitated WASH training sessions for CSB staff and hygiene education sessions for patients and families to promote the long-term use and maintenance of the new facilities.
Thank you for making this work possible. Your support is helping strengthen rural healthcare services and improve health outcomes for communities in southeast Madagascar.
