Caritas Kolomyia is implementing a project to reconstruct the heating system in a residential care home for older people in Ukraine, ensuring stable heating and comfortable living conditions for its 43 residents. A reliable heating system will help create a warm, safe, and caring environment where older people can receive daily support and live with dignity.
The Mykola Charnetskyi Home for Older People is home to 43 elderly residents facing difficult life circumstances who need daily care, safety, professional support, and warmth. The building's outdated heating system has failed and can no longer maintain a safe and comfortable indoor temperature during the winter. With winter approaching, the risk of exposure to cold is increasing, especially for older people, for whom stable warmth is essential to their health and well-being.
We have developed a clear reconstruction plan for the heating system, including the replacement of damaged and outdated equipment, and aim to complete the work before the cold season begins. At the same time, the project will help raise awareness within the local community about the challenges of loneliness and vulnerability in older age and encourage people to come together in support of elderly people.
The reconstructed heating will help maintain safe and comfortable living conditions, reduce health risks associated with cold temperatures, and create an environment where residents can focus not only on their basic needs, but also on communication, creativity, recreation, and an active daily life. In the long term, a more energy-efficient heating system will also help optimize operating costs, allowing Caritas Kolomyia to direct more resources toward medical rehabilitation.
