For the last several years, we've been offering Art Therapy workshops at the rehabilitation department at the Sheba (Tel Hashomer) Hospital. Our volunteer art teachers and artists stepped up to the challenge after a recent war left dozens of soldiers with physical and emotional scars. Art therapy has been proven to help alleviate both physical symptoms and depression, and so we came with our donated easels, paints, magazine tear-outs (for ideas) - and full hearts.
Several years, and dozens of patients later, we are proud today to welcome over 20 patients every Wednesday afternoon at the workshop. We spend 2 to 3 hours together, fine-tuning painting techniques, using our inherent talents to simply paint. Together.
Valentine's Day isn't usually celebrated in hospitals. Last Wednesday, we declared it the theme! And we had everyone choose their Valentine - and dedicate their painting to him or her.
