This project will help increase our dog and cat rescue and adoption services by expanding our team of volunteers and fosters to support the growing number of animals Sweet Paws Rescue (SPR) is now managing. Through our new 20-acre location in Boxford MA. we are making a positive impact on the Foster-based Rescue model that SPR employs to pave the way for our future animal sanctuary.
Across the country, thousands of dogs and cats are abused, abandoned, or neglected each year. Overcrowded shelters and limited resources mean many animals wait months for care, safety, and love. Without enough adopters and support, countless pets remain vulnerable, highlighting the urgent need for rescue efforts, community awareness, and compassionate families willing to give them a forever home.
Sweet Paws Rescue's Wags and Washes program creates a safe "village" environment where rescued dogs and cats receive shelter, medical care, and rehabilitation while volunteers and fosters prepare them for adoption. Through community support, fostering, and adoption events, the Wags and Washes project helps animals recover from neglect and connects them with loving families and permanent homes. SPR has also partnered with Subaru Loves Pets program to accelerate our efforts through this project.
The Wags and Washes project, supported by the Subaru Loves Pet initiative with Sweet Paws Rescue, creates sustainable funding and awareness for rescued animals. By turning everyday pet care into a community fundraising event, it generates ongoing support for medical care, rehabilitation, and shelter while engaging more adopters, volunteers, and donors-helping more abused and abandoned pets find safe, permanent homes over time. SPR is also providing continuing education to raise awareness.
