The Wags and Washes fundraising program that Sweet Paws Rescue launched with our partners Autofair Subaru and Washville in March was recently extended to October 31st. We will be hosting a dog adoption event on Saturday October 31st at Autofair Subaru in Haverhill as part of the Subaru Loves Pets program.
To date we have raised over $1,000 for the Wags and Washes program and these donations will be used to support our expansion efforts as Sweet Paws Rescue recently acquired a 20 acre farm in Boxford MA. The additional space will enable SPR to expand our dog and cat rescue and adoption services to support our mission of using all possible resources to save victimized and neglected animals. Our unwavering goal is to find forever homes for dogs, cats, and other animals in need of rescue and refuge, so that they can live out the remainder of their lives in comfort and happiness.
We hosted a dog adoption event in May at Washville Haverhill location that raised both awareness and contributed significant donations to our campaign. Our partnership with Washville has now extended beyond Newburyport and Haverhill into other locations within the Northeastern region of Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. We have also added new foster families to our community along with additional volunteers through our Wags and Washes events enabling our capacity expansion as rescue efforts continue to grow.
I wanted to also share an inspirational story that originated from our Wags and Washes adoption event at Washville Haverhill location. A local resident and SPR volunteer, foster and rescuer saw a way to lend her talents to helping us with site work on the farm. She and her colleagues from Keller Williams reached out to offer their help. In mid-May, the group arrived at the farm to help with spring landscaping cleanup around the property. They also installed an inspirational rock garden design using rocks painted by kids and adults that attended last year's Barktoberfest (and we'll add more from Barktoberfest 2026!). They're even trying to find time to create planting beds for flowers and vegetables. This is a community. This is a home. This is you showing up to help us show up. We're deeply grateful to the team at Keller Williams for its time, care, and hard work.
