JLP volunteers made a huge impact in the lives of victims of domestic violence over the holiday season. In November, JLP volunteers prepared a Thanksgiving meal and served it to 20 women and children at the Raphael House emergency shelter. Volunteers sat and shared conversation with current and former residents, helping to build relationships and a sense of community for our partner. In December, JLP volunteers served more than 50 families by helping with the Raphael House holiday shop. Volunteers worked directly with current and former residents of the shelter to select perfect gifts for their family members. Other volunteers led crafts and educational activities for kids to offer moms a one-on-one shopping experience. Residents left with bags full of amazing gifts, toys, appliances, clothing, and a warm heart. The women served were so grateful, some moved to tears, for the outpouring of love and generosity. Volunteers were touched by the intimate nature of both RH events and each left with a better understanding of the positive impact the JLP is making in our community.
