Disaster recovery is a construction trade. Having the skills to repair a home means you understand basic construction and have general carpentry knowledge. All across the nation individuals with trade skills is at an all time low. Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. are all fields in high demand.
In addition to the COVID-19 pandemic reducing the number of volunteers across the country, the number of skilled laborers is also low. ROAD stepped up to create an answer to this challene through the creation of the Vocational Training Apprenticeship Program (VTAP) in partnership with WorkForce and Career Tech.
This hands on program teaches basic construction and leaves each participant with general carpenty knowledge while at the same time recovers a disaster survivors home. This win-win program not only eleviates the immediate need a disaster surviving family has for home repairs, but also a long term answer to the trades shortage.
Your support of ROAD is key to the success of this program where your contribtution doubles in that you are helping a disaster surviving family stay in their home while creating a sustainable vocation for someone else.
We are grateful for your support!
