Originally from Gulu, Jennifer is a mother of 4 and has been married for 17 years. At 34, her name, which means “full of laughter” seems appropriate, although she is a bit shy. She went to school through Primary 6 and speaks good English. Project Have Hope trained her in tailoring, after which she found a job sewing police uniforms in a factory. It is a 3 mile walk in each direction to reach the factory and then home and Jennifer often works the overnight shift. Although it can be challenging, it allows her to care for her children. Her husband currently doesn’t work so it is imperative that she earn money to support their family. She is only able to afford the fees for one of her children to go to school but she will keep trying. She hopes one day they will all gain an education. She believes if you “study well you will have a good life."
As Mother's Day approaches, consider honoring a mother through the gift of empowerment.
A donation of just $25 provides tuition for one term and gives a woman the power to build her own future.
