By Karen Sparacio | Project Leader
Meet Coline. She is 44 years old and supports 9 children; 7 of her own and 2 orphans. She sought refuge in the Acholi Quarter in 1999 to escape the war, during which most of her relatives and fellow villagers were killed by the rebels. Struggling to support her large family, Coline found hope in Project Have Hope's vocational training program. She completed a beauty salon course and was granted an interest-free loan to set up shop. She now has a bustling storefront on the main road of the Quarter. Once unsure of her future, today she has a steady income and hopes to return to the North where she will rebuild her home and can continue her work as an esteemed hairdresser.
As the New Year starts, consider giving the gift of empowerment.
A donation of just $25 provides tuition for one term and gives a woman the power to build her own future.
