By Conrad Mandsager | ChildVoice CEO and President
Thank you so much for helping to fund ChildVoice’s vocational training programs for Boko Haram victims and other war-affected youth in Nigeria. We are now very close to achieving our funding goal!
In the past quarter, our Nigeria team made tremendous progress in the construction of our new Youth Empowerment Center (YEC) at the Malkohi internally displaced persons (IDP) camp. The new facility will greatly help the team enhance the skills training offerings they are currently providing to traumatized Nigerian adolescents. We have had some challenges in drilling a water borehole to serve the YEC, but hope to have a fresh water source available for our staff and students in the next quarter.
In a previous report, we mentioned that we have a new boys’ program underway, and that boys were learning basic electrical skills. Some of the students were able to participate in on-site skills training as construction of the YEC progressed. (See photos.) Practical experiences like this will help them find regular work after they complete their programs.
Again, thank you for being a force for good in the lives of traumatized and displaced Nigerian youth. You make change happen!
