Vocational training expansion is underway!

By Conrad Mandsager | ChildVoice CEO and President

Thank you so much for your help to fund our vocational training programs for Boko Haram victims and other war-affected adolescent girls in Nigeria. The project is now over 75 percent funded, and we are looking forward to reaching the finish line!

Our Nigeria team has begun teaching new skills, including soap and perfume making. We are also researching other skills to add to our bakery and catering offerings. And we continue to research and plan for the addition of counseling and skills training for war-affected boys. This includes assessing both the level and scope of needs of adolescent boys living in Malkohi’s IDP (internally displaced persons) camps in northeastern Nigeria.

Our staff members continue to face daily challenges in providing ongoing skills training and counseling services to the war-affected adolescent girls who live in the IDP camps. Our main office in Yola is frequently without electrical power. Recently, we were also faced with a transportation crisis when our team’s only vehicle was totalled during a flash flood. We have since obtained temporary transportation as we continue raising funds to purchase a Toyota Land Cruiser, which will be capable of traversing badly degraded roads during the rainy season. Our resilient staff are determined to meet the needs of our beneficiaries, regardless of the obstacles.

ChildVoice’s vocational training programs are made possible only by the support of donors like you who care about the lives of vulnerable, war-traumatized girls. We appreciate you coming alongside us!
