Focus: Youth Empowerment, Vocational Exploration, and Life Skills Development
Executive Summary
During the recent period, Mundo de Talentos successfully executed module sessions designed to expand young minds, introduce practical life skills, and connect children with real-world professions. Through workshops, guest expert sessions and a celebratory market fair, participating children developed essential socio-emotional competencies such as collaboration, perseverance, and financial literacy.
This report summarizes key progress across three thematic modules:
1. Monterrey: Business Plan & Entrepreneurship Module
In Monterrey, the Business Plan module introduced students to fundamental entrepreneurial concepts, turning theoretical knowledge into practical team exercises. Led by guest experts in startup incubation, the sessions encouraged active participation, creativity, and teamwork.
Students were introduced to the basics of business creation through playful integration dynamics. The focus skill for this module was collaboration. Working in small teams, children brainstormed ideas, evaluated market needs, and selected the specific products and services they wished to offer.
Using specialized student workbooks, participants named their micro-enterprises and designed their original logos and slogans. Food service concepts and artisanal products emerged as popular choices among the young entrepreneurs.
In subsequent sessions, participants moved deeper into financial planning. They calculated basic budgets, distinguished between costs and prices, and engaged in sales role-playing exercises. These interactive activities allowed students to practice purchasing, selling, customer service, and resource management in a supportive environment.
The sessions accommodated diverse neurodivergent profiles, ensuring adaptive guidance so all children could contribute meaningfully to their teams while building interpersonal skills.
2. Oaxaca: Business Plan & Entrepreneurship Module
The Oaxaca Entrepreneurship track offered a comprehensive journey from initial business conceptualization to product manufacturing and a final public marketplace fair (Kermés).
Students explored entrepreneurship through core questions: What do you love doing? How can you help others? What are you passionate about? This framework helped students build cohesive group commitments. The cohort successfully developed six distinct business projects:
To understand expenses, income, profit margins, and budgeting, students participated in a practical workshop. Using educational play money and calculators at a simulated supply store, teams purchased raw materials based on their planned budget lists, followed by collaborative production sessions assisted by supportive family members.
Participants focused on mass production, labeling, packaging, and calculating accurate product pricing based on both material costs and time invested. Students created promotional flyers, paper decorations, and sales promotions for their booths. Products were also tagged with Mundo de Talentos social media channels to raise community awareness for the program.
The module concluded with a festive market fair. Students decorated their booths with banners and balloons, displayed their products, and actively promoted their goods. Demonstrating true camaraderie, children who sold out early helped neighboring teams complete their sales. Proceeds raised during the event were dedicated toward funding the students' upcoming graduation ceremonies.
3. Oaxaca: Local Trades and Crafts Module (Módulo de Oficios)
The Trades Module highlights essential community vocations, instilling respect for hands-on labor while fostering the core life skill of perseverance.
The module opened with community building, emergency response drills, and creative workshops using papier-mâché to honor traditional trades that sustain local economies. Students actively shared stories about the diverse occupations within their own families.
A visiting automotive mechanic shared insights into vehicle systems, client customer service, cost estimations, and the dedication needed to run an independent shop. The session featured a playful car race activity where students reflected on winning and losing. Children expressed key takeaways regarding resilience—learning that setbacks are opportunities to try again.
A professional pastry chef visited to share her career journey and life story. Emphasizing kindness and respect in a workplace, the guest speaker guided students through making and decorating traditional pastries, allowing students to explore culinary creativity.
A session led by a community volunteer focused on therapeutic support and community service for families in challenging circumstances. The workshop covered emotional resilience, empathy, perseverance, and the vital role non-profit organizations play in accompanying families through difficult times.
Throughout the module, educational staff utilized specialized observation instruments to track each student's progress in developing perseverance, teamwork, and emotional maturity across every activity.
