Dear supporters,
As you know communication with our project participants was blocked for the last two years due to the civil war. Now that a resemblance of peace is emerging telephone lines in the big cities have begun. I was able to talk to the individual whose name is Ato Hailu Nerea. He is one of the project members and he was happy to inform me of the status of life in the last two years. The people are poorer now than they were before. Invading soldiers have taken animals without paying for them.
I was also informed that the people are eagerly waiting for the project to restart. We are now exchanging ideas here at the University on the next steps and plans of implementation. An important plan is the expansion of rainwater harvesting that would serve several households. I am also planning to purchase vegetable seeds to be distributed to about 1000 people.
I will keep you updated about the plans and hope that I will be able to go and return from the village for the next report.
Thank you for your help with the project.
Best regards,
Tsegay
