Your generosity is helping strengthen healthcare in Venezuela when it is needed most.
Four months after two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela, communities continue to face the challenges of recovery. Thanks to your support, Direct Relief has been able to stand alongside local healthcare providers and partners, helping them respond to urgent needs and continue caring for affected communities.
In the immediate aftermath, Direct Relief provided emergency funding to seven organizations, helping strengthen search-and-rescue capacity and emergency medical response. Essential medicines and medical supplies also began moving to healthcare partners across Venezuela.
These efforts build on relationships Direct Relief has developed over many years, including longstanding support for Acción Solidaria and Fundación Wayuu Taya. Those connections helped Direct Relief respond to needs identified on the ground and work with organizations already positioned to reach affected communities.
As recovery continues, healthcare needs extend beyond the immediate emergency. Providers are helping people manage chronic conditions, restoring access to primary healthcare, and addressing growing needs for mental health support, rehabilitation, and prosthetic care.
As of September, Direct Relief had provided 48 tons of medical aid valued at $31.2 million, along with $550,000 in grants to seven organizations supporting Venezuela’s earthquake response and recovery.
