Venezuela Earthquake Emergency Response

Following the two earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela on June 24, 2026, the Wayuu Taya Foundation began providing emergency assistance to affected communities. Working with international partners, our teams helped displaced families, assessed community needs, and coordinated the receipt and distribution of relief supplies.

To date, we have distributed 380,369 items, including food, hygiene products, shelter supplies, essential medicines, and medical equipment. These supplies have reached affected families, temporary shelters, health centers, and local organizations supporting the response. This work has been possible with the support of CORE, Food For The Poor, Direct Relief, Good Neighbors, ACCESO, and other partners.

With support from Good Neighbors, Wayuu Taya is also providing psychosocial support to children and teenagers affected by the earthquakes in La Guaira. To date, 150 have participated in structured group sessions led by trained facilitators using Good Neighbors’ methodology. Activities are adapted to their ages and focus on managing stress, building personal skills, and strengthening relationships with others in a safe and welcoming space.

Families continue to need assistance as they rebuild their daily lives. Our teams remain on the ground, distributing supplies and providing psychosocial support, while shelter rehabilitation remains a pressing need.
