Beginning of 2017 at our transit home

Two of our girls on a walk in Dhading

In Nepal winters are no fun - no central heating means that everyone wears the same clothes outside and indoors. And eating rice and curry using your hands can be a bit tricky if you're wearing a big jacket and can hardly move! But we're trying to make it as fun as possible for our kids. And thanks to some generous donations of heaters and other equipment, our children can now properly enjoy their meals and study time.

As the only emergency shelter for children in Dhading, we are lucky to get support from different volunteers who help every Saturday with various educational activities for our children. All the children attend school and are getting better and better marks which always makes us very happy and proud of them.

In the meantime, our field worker works very closely with the families of the children that we have helped since we opened the transit home. We are visiting all the families again this month so will be updating you with all the news and photos shortly. Some families are benefiting from sewing machines and having their small tailoring businesses set up and some received goats. We are trying to make everything as sustainable as possible so that the families are not reliant on us in the future.

Our children had a lot of fun over Christmas and New Year, with a few little trips in Dhading and now are enjoying being back at school after all their exams. They are all making new friends everyday and it's great to see them integrating so nicely.

And once again, thank you all so much for all the support so far. It means a lot to us and to our children of course.

More updates coming up soon!
