Idea of Urban Creative Factory - street art center is to build capacities and provide opportunities to 200 deprived youngsters from Nis, Serbia such as juvenile delinquents, youngsters coming from socially excluded groups, youth living in poverty to empower them, integrate to the mainstream society and build their self-confidence through creative work and artistic workshops (graffiti, comics, hip hop music, break dance, photography, video) that would be free of charge and led by recognized artists.
In the previus period, we've been publishing the information about the center and meet and discuss the opportunities that the center provides with potentianl beneficiaries. Around 100 youngsters visited the center and provided their opinion about this idea. We discussed the arrangements with the artists who will lead the workshops and at the moment they are preparing the program of their workshops. In May 2015 first workshops were organized. The workshops provided 20 youngsters with the opportunity to learn more about fotography and graphics. They adopted the basic knowledge and started to create their own works. Part of the equipment is secured for the needs of the center, although the biggest part is still missing as we are still in the process of fundraising.
The statement of the beneficiary: "This place allows me to meet my peers and at the same time learn something new. I've always liked taking photos, and now I have a chance to learn more about it for free. My facilitator is very open to all the questions that I have. I am glad that something like this exists in our town".
We would like to thank all our donors for their contribution because for us it means a lot and provides us with possibility to make our idea live.
