Urban Creative Factory for Deprived Youth 1

By KOM 018 | Project Leader

Idea of Urban Creative Factory - street art center is to build capacities and provide opportunities to 200 deprived youngsters from Nis, Serbia such as juvenile delinquents, youngsters coming from socially excluded groups, youth living in poverty to empower them, integrate to the mainstream society and build their self-confidence through creative work and artistic workshops (graffiti, comics, hip hop music, break dance, photography, video) that would be free of charge and led by recognized artists.

During the first 3 months as long as we are participating in the challenge and work with GlobalGiving, we managed to organize and adjust space that we rent for the needs of the street art center. Part of the equipment is secured although the biggest part is still missing as we are still in the process of fundraising. At this point we are still publishing the information about the center and meet and discuss the opportunities that the center will provide with potentianl beneficiaries. Ceratin number of them (approximately 50) already visited the center and provided their opinion about this idea. We discussed the arrangements with the artists who will lead the workshops and at the moment they are preparing the program of their workshops. Recognized names of Serbian hip hop culture have many great ideas and we are sure that great activities will happen in the center.

We would like to thank all our donors for their contribution because for us it means a lot and provides us with possibility to make our idea live.
