Dear Partner,
A very crucial aspect of holistic education is skill development, and thanks to YOU, this opportunity has been created for hundreds of students from underserved backgrounds!
Leveraging holidays to increase our face time with students pursuing college education, and to create deeper impact, intensive two week camp was organized to build requisite skills. Full day sessions provided range of career oriented and personality development workshops, focussing on three aspects - Self-awareness, Inter-personal skills and Job oriented training, which were made fun and activity based.
Most students come from backgrounds where they don’t have anyone back home to guide them. Identifying their goals being the first step to success, workshop was held to help them identify and set goals. Perception building and instilling empathy were some of the key areas that were focussed on. Students were facilitated to discover their learning type and guided through basic time management for more improved performance.
Adaptive and inter-personal skills are becoming more critical as the nature of jobs change with the advent of Industry 4.0. Workshops to hone communication and presentation skills helped students understand many nuances. Group discussions were organized to help put into practice their learnings. Taking leadership development a step further and adding more fun to it, students were taken for an outward bound experiential learning camp to Ramanagara, Karnataka. The focus was on communication, collaboration, co-ordination and leadership. The students participated in team building, as well as, adventure based learning activities, such as Rappelling, Zip lining, Burma Bridge.
Bridging the industry-academia gap, efforts were made to upskill students to make them job ready. Basic computer networking sessions were conducted, and technical skills were built through interesting workshops on robotics, which strengthened their programming skills. Logical reasoning and critical thinking ability was enhanced through coaching on approaching aptitude tests. Adding to their exposure, students were taken on a visit to HAM Radio Research Center, Bangalore, where they were addressed by the Director of Indian Institute of HAMS, who gave them great insights into the working of HAM Radio Communication Technology and its usage. Subject Matter Expert’s (SME’s) from diverse fields interacted with the students to give them exposure to various career options, to make informed choices.
Thanks to your support, youth from underserved backgrounds have the opportunity to be empowered and equipped with skills, bringing out the leaders in them! With the requisite guidance and support, they are on the path of transformation, and, a successful and fulfilling career!
YOU are creating possibilities which didn’t exist before! Thank you, and we look forward to your continued support and partnership!
