Sadaka-Reut trains Palestinian and Jewish young adults from Jaffa and beyond to become researchers and walking tour guides. Through family archives, interviews with elders, and neighborhood memories, they explore histories missing from conventional tours. Their walks connect family stories to issues of identity, belonging, and displacement. By bringing diverse experiences into public space, participants challenge erasure and division, build solidarity, and support community initiatives in Jaffa.
Repeated attempts to erase Palestinian history and heritage disconnect young Palestinians from their roots and family stories. Young Jewish adults have few opportunities to hear different narratives, leaving them confined to a single perspective on their shared surroundings. This is unjust to both: one is denied access to their heritage, the other to a fuller understanding of the society they live in. These barriers deepen division and limit opportunities for open dialogue and collective action.
We train Palestinian and Jewish young adults from Jaffa and beyond to research archives, interview elders, and develop walking tours based on family and neighborhood histories.
