Dear friends,
Greetings from Bright Kids Charity in Ukraine.
With heartfelt gratitude, we would like to share an update on our work supporting children with disabilities and their families.
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to support 3 children with essential rehabilitation and care, at a total cost of USD 2,564.
The children we supported include 12-year-old twin brothers with autism and 13-year-old Anechka, a girl living with a disability who requires ongoing rehabilitation.
Milan and Samir
One mother reached out to us for help with her twin boys, who are both 12 and have autism. The boys are largely non-verbal and need regular rehabilitation, including speech therapy, psychological support, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.
The family has also been working with specialists on selective eating, coordination, fine motor skills, and behavioral challenges.
Their mother had always tried to cover the cost of therapy herself, but regular rehabilitation had become out of reach for the family. With your support, the boys were able to continue the therapy they need.
Anechka’s Story
Anya is a 13-year-old girl who was born prematurely at just 29 weeks. She is a twin; her brother was born first, while Anya was positioned transversely and required medical intervention before birth.
She was born with extensive bruising and had experienced hypoxia, or oxygen deprivation. At the age of one, Anya was diagnosed with a disability, and her family began the long journey of regular rehabilitation.
Since then, rehabilitation has remained an important part of her life. She has undergone numerous courses of therapy, including pool-based rehabilitation and treatment abroad. Her father left the family, and her mother has been raising the children on her own while doing everything possible to provide the care her daughter needs.
For families like Anya’s, rehabilitation is not a one-time treatment. It is an ongoing necessity requiring time, specialist care, and significant financial resources.
With your support, Anya was able to continue the rehabilitation she needs.
Your Support Matters
These are families raising children with disabilities in Ukraine, where life continues under the pressure of war. Parents are doing everything they can to keep their children safe, support their development, and provide the regular treatment they need — often with very little.
For these children, rehabilitation is an ongoing necessity that can help them communicate, move, develop new skills, become more independent, and live with less pain.
We are inundated with requests for help from parents who have nowhere else to turn. It is heartbreaking for a mother or father to watch their child struggle and not have the means to give them the care they need. They knock on every door, looking for someone who can help.
This is why we are so grateful that you heard them.
Because of your support, these families did not have to face this alone. They could not do it without you.
As a grassroots NGO, we are deeply grateful to everyone who helps us stand by Ukrainian families raising children with disabilities during these extremely difficult times.
Thank you for being there for them.
With warm wishes,
The Bright Kids Charity Team
