Ukraine: help vulnerable children affected by war

Dear Donors,

We are deeply grateful for your support, which allows us to provide essential assistance to families facing hardship in Ukraine.

Thanks to your generosity, we purchased and delivered critical supplies worth USD 1,367 for vulnerable families with young children from the Kharkiv region—one of the areas most heavily affected by the ongoing war and located close to the contact line. These essentials included cereals, sugar, flour, pasta, dried milk mixtures, baby formula, nappies, wet wipes, and other vital items needed to support families caring for infants and young children.

Your contributions provided essential food and baby supplies to families facing severe financial difficulties, many of whom have lost stable sources of income while continuing to care for children with additional health and developmental needs.

We would like to share one of the stories from a mother you have helped:

Daryna is being raised by her mother, who is caring for her alone under extremely difficult circumstances. With kindergartens not operating in her area, she is unable to return to work and relies on a monthly income of approximately 11,000 UAH (around USD 260) to cover food, utilities, medicines, and all other household expenses.

The family also faces significant medical costs. Daryna has been diagnosed with valgus heel deformity and muscle weakness, requiring specialised orthopedic footwear, rehabilitation equipment, medication, massage, and physiotherapy. Long waiting lists for public services mean that some treatment must be obtained privately, placing additional pressure on the family's already limited budget.

The mother shared:

“It is very difficult to live on our income because the prices of food, utilities, and medicines are so high. My daughter does not yet walk and needs expensive orthopedic shoes, therapy equipment, and treatment. I really need support and help.”

By helping to cover basic food and baby essentials, donors have allowed families like Daryna’s to prioritise urgent medical care and rehabilitation.
