Workshops with Coordinators/ Caregivers and Children

Mental Health Session—Ms. Pinky Goswami (Name Changed) conducted a capacity-building workshop on personal mental health and trauma awareness for all staff members. The session emphasized the importance of self-care and recognizing mental stress while exploring how trauma affects both caregivers and children. Ms. Goswami discussed the necessity of emotional well-being among caregivers and introduced simple stress management techniques, mindfulness practices, and self-care strategies to prevent burnout. She explained trauma-informed care, helping staff understand how children's past experiences shape their emotions and behaviours.

Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, participants gained valuable insights into handling difficult situations while maintaining their mental health. The workshop strengthened caregivers' confidence in creating safe, supportive environments for children while prioritizing their personal well-being.

First Aid TrainingEmmanuel Hospital Association conducted comprehensive first aid training on December 12-13, 2024, equipping participants with essential life-saving skills. The training covered emergency response fundamentals, including the Fire Triangle and PASS method for fire extinguishers, alongside practical demonstrations of CPR, wound care, and fracture management. This hands-on approach ensured participants developed practical competence in emergency situations, empowering the community to protect and save lives. The training was also extended to children in their homes, providing them with important safety knowledge.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

Visit to (Salam Balak Trust) SBT Show: The children were transported into a world of dramatic storytelling as they attended Salam Balak Trust's masterful "Two Wolves" performance on 8th Dec'24. This thought-provoking drama delved deep into every human soul's eternal struggle between light and darkness. The metaphorical journey resonated deeply with the young audience, sparking profound discussions about personal choices and moral strength. The performance left an indelible mark on their minds, teaching them that every person can choose which "wolf" to feed within themselves - the good or the bad.

Annual Sports Day- On 2nd Feb'25, children participated in adidas-Udayan Annual Sports Day, it was very enthusiastic and joyful day for children and staff. They participated in all the outdoor games and activities. They received gifts and appreciation. Participating in sports day activities, whether they win or lose, can significantly boost a child’s self-esteem. Overcoming challenges, achieving personal goals, and celebrating achievements, big or small, builds confidence and a sense of accomplishment.

Foundation Day- Celebrating Founder’s Day on 7th Feb'25, especially marking the 31st anniversary of Udayan Care, must have been a momentous occasion for the children involved, filled with joy, gratitude, and a sense of community. Udayan Care, known for empowering underprivileged children and supporting their educational journeys, would have inspired a celebration that reflects its values and achievements.

On 8th March 2025, the children celebrated “Women’s Day” with an empowering film and handmade cards honouring women’s achievements. “Holi” on 13th April brought colourful festivities, storytelling, and eco-friendly fun. “Poetry Day” on 21st March inspired creativity through recitations, while “World Water Day” on 22nd March highlighted conservation through charts and films. Each event blended learning, joy, and meaningful reflection.
