The situation of children in South AfricaA country where children have equal rights under the Constitution, but where the worlds into which they are born and their opportunities in life are very unequal.
While there have been advances made in the provision of services and access to all children in South Africa, the need for a sustained and targeted response to the following challenges remains urgent:
At Ubunye Educare Centre we aim to overcome these challenges that our country faces by creating a physical space that is safe for our children to learn in. Our focus is to bridge the educational experience in low-income areas schooling by providing quality early childhood development for 120 children, aged 5-6 years old each year.
Thus far we have successfully graduated 1980 children since inception. We have a full complement of 120 learners registered at our school this year and 20 parents have registered their children for 2025. We are happy with our children’s academic progress thus far. We continue to support 20 of our children who have not yet mastered the skills, taught in the first two terms in our after-school support classes. Through our feeding programme, we continue to provide two cooked meals on every school day to all our children. Our community projects are still running, and we have completed our parent programme graduating ten parents so far. All our achievements could not be possible without our incredible team who faithfully come to love and serve our children and the community of Dunoon.
As a non-profit organisation, we continue to recognize the importance of our partners who faithfully contribute to our forward momentum. Thank you for your kind donations to our course.
