Project Report | Mar 12, 2020
Creating a World of Possibility for Street Childre

By Administrative Volunteer | UBECI Administrative Volunteer Team

UBECI is proud to share the latest report from February. This month, our activities focused on prevention. Each year, we continue to serve over 600 street children in Quito with empowering activities through the “Play, Do and Learn” program. In this month of February, we were able to serve 224 children. According to UNICEF, 40.7% of children and adolescents in Ecuador are living in situations of poverty. Through UBECI, we are working to break the cycle of poverty for street children in Quito through a number of activities ranging from health to education.

For children between one years old to six years old, known as Encuentro (Discovery), our activities focused on developing their imagination and emotional intelligence; stimulating communication, creative thought, and cooperation among the children; incentivizing learning, socialization, and integration with peers; and promoting organization and order in the activity diaries of the kids.

For children between seven years old and 11 years old, known as Desarrollo (Developing), our activities focused on making children aware of school commitments and obligations; improving language and forms of expression towards others; developing empathy, respect, and positive attitudes in the children; improving motor coordination, discipline, and consistency in goal attainment; stimulating creativity, responsibility, and positive awareness; and instilling self-confidence, and positive body language.

For children between 12 years old and 16 years old, known as Consolidado (Consolidated), our activities focused on promoting responsibility, positive thinking with a constructive conscience for everyday life; promoting a positive personality, solidarity, and perseverance in children; strengthening emotional stability, self-esteem, and personal well-being; supporting organized and positive management free time; and strengthening communication, expression of affection, self-control, and respect.

With your donations, we are able to provide essential materials and activities to the children. With $30, your donations provided personal care products for workshops including soap, paper towels, sunscreen, wet wipes, and bandages. With $45, your donation provided a month’s worth of workshop materials including toys, puzzles, soccer balls, scissors, and modeling clay.

Any donation makes a difference.

Thank you for your support and we appreciated your participation.
