By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friends,
Thank you very much for your support to our project to replant the coconut trees damaged by the typhoon here. We are indeed very grateful as so very few are doing this. Other organizations are more focused on short term activities with results can be visible in 1-2 months. Re-planting coconuts is another case since we get results only in 7 long years and impact evaluation could not readily be seen. But this has to be done since coconuts are one of the main crops here. This reporting period, we are able to distribute a total of 350 seedlings good for 3.5 hectares in Barangay Mahayahay, Ormoc City with one hectare can be planted with 100 trees with a distance of 10 meters x 10 meters. Our coconut seedling nursery located in Barangay Talisayan,
Albuera Municipality is also producing 1,500 coconut seedlings with initial seeds we got from municipalities in the southern part of Leyte not severely damaged by the typhoon.
Thank you once again for your continuing support.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
