By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Greetings from Leyte and thank you very much for your continuing support to our project to provide food for typhoon-affected beneficiaries living in temporary shelters via vegetable gardening. This is indeed a ground-breaking project but was temporarily discontinued when the El Nino hot season affected the area and it is difficult to raise gardens because of lack of water. At present, the rains has started already and the gardens are growing again. Support for this project is getting smaller but we managed to bring in visitors to observe our work and to provide financial support via GlobalGiving. They like supporting this way because they get regular updates of the progress of the fund that they provide via the reports posted.
This period, we were able to engage 75 families living in temporary shelters to raise their gardens. We provide organic fertilizer, vegetable seeds and technical assistance.
Hoping for your continuing support to this initiative.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
