By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear All Friends,
Greetings from Leyte and thank you very much for your continuing donation to our gardening initiative for typhoon survivors still staying in bunk-houses and semi-permanent shelters. There are still many survivors waiting to be resettled in more permanent housing and while waiting, we encourage them to do gardening as a means to augment their income, provide home-grown food and for them to use their free time in a beneficial way.
As a strategy to sustain this effort, we provide training for local natural leaders on effective gardening techniques using available materials and implementing the gardens in whatever available space there is in the area. Some areas have very limited spaces for gardening and we train them to use bamboo and containers to grow vegetables. This period we are able to train 27 local garden technicians.
Hoping for your continuing support.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
