Dear Friends,
Greetings and thank you very much for your kind help to our project to provide continuous food to the typhoon survivors here by raising their own gardens. Vegetables are indeed very easy to grow and we are blessed with plenty of sun and water which are needed ingredients for gardening. We are also training the beneficiaries how to make their own organic fertilizer using kitchen waste and manure from farm animals around the area. Many of the survivors are still living in bunk-houses or temporary shelters and we are supporting them with training, vegetable seeds and garden implements. This reporting period, we assisted 2 bunk-houses located in Palo, Leyte and in Basey, Samar with 325 families. The good thing is that the Samaritan’s Purse partnered with us in providing personnel and training materials. Aside from gardening, we are hosting a gardening contest and celebration for the residents with prizes consisting of kitchen utensils, rice, canned goods and school supplies for the children.
