For a woman building a small business in Palestine, earning an income can mean being able to buy groceries, cover her children’s school expenses, or face an unexpected bill with a little less fear. It can also mean something deeply personal: seeing her hard work valued and having more say in her own future. Through Tomorrow’s Youth Organization’s women’s entrepreneurship work, we supported more than 180 women entrepreneurs each year, providing training, mentoring, coaching, networking, business connections, and access to seed funding. Together, these opportunities helped women develop their ideas, strengthen their businesses, and generate income for themselves and their families. For many women, that support was life-changing. The impact reached beyond their businesses and into their homes, their confidence, and the choices available to them. Having guidance, resources, and people who believed in their abilities gave them a stronger foundation to move forward. Today, sustaining that progress is increasingly difficult. The ongoing crisis, restrictions on movement, and disrupted economic activity continue to place enormous pressure on Palestinian livelihoods. In the West Bank, unemployment reached 27.9% in the second quarter of 2026, rising to 30.5% among women participating in the labour force. These figures reflect how difficult it remains to find a dependable source of income. At the same time, a shortage of funding has sharply limited the support we can provide. We have had to scale back the comprehensive services that helped women build their businesses, just as the need for those services has become more urgent. We remain connected with women who previously participated in our programs, offering mentoring sessions and facilitating introductions wherever we can. We continue to listen, share advice, and look for opportunities alongside them. These relationships matter deeply to us. But occasional support cannot provide the same continuity as a program that stays beside a woman as she learns, makes decisions, invests, and grows. We want to restore that support. We want women to have access to practical training, a mentor they can return to, individual coaching, networks that open doors, connections to customers and partners, and seed funds that help them put their plans into action. The women’s abilities and passion are still there. So are their responsibilities, their needs, and the effort they put into creating a better future. Limited funding means fewer opportunities for them to turn that effort into income—and less support for protecting what they have already worked so hard to build. Despite the difficulties of the past three months, we continue to believe in the value of this work and the importance of standing alongside Palestinian women. We have seen how access to resources, guidance, and meaningful opportunities can strengthen a woman’s confidence, support her business, and create positive changes for her family. We hope to reach a point where we can once again provide women with the consistent support, resources, and opportunities they need to strengthen their businesses and build more secure futures
