Postcard: Project Site Visit

Jacqueline Lee is an InTheField Traveler with GlobalGiving who is visiting our partners’ projects throughout Southeast Asia. Her “Postcard” from the visit in Indonesia:

On July 19, I visited PUSPEM's tree cultivation project. In comparison to photos taken when they were planted, they have grown very tall. We stopped to speak with people in the area about the benefits of the trees. 2 young girls said  they come to the area to sit and hang out because now it is cooler and nicer.

According to Andi, the trees were ordered to be planted here due to flooding and the area was very hot and polluted. 2 local vendors shared with me how now it is not as hot, more customers come to the area, and now there is no more flooding. It is better for their small businesses selling food on the roadside.

It was a productive site visit and nice to see first hand the impact the trees make today.
