Objective: - To create awareness about Anemia, nutrition supplements,s and safety measures towards preventing Covid19 infection among college girl students, young girls, and pregnant mothers.
Report: From March to 15th June 2021.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic (Second-wave) continued deteriorating the public life of the community life, public activities are not permitted from the Government, no Anemia screening camps were organized between March to May 2021. Nevertheless, the project team was able to connect the beneficiaries ( some of the mothers, college students, and young girls) in the project area using virtual platforms. It was also done during their visit to the CHC Hospital. Especially there were two occasions on- firstly 10 of March and secondly 16th of April where the project team had a discussion with the CHC team on how to connect the beneficiaries and collected some of the beneficiaries’ phone numbers and connected through WhatsApp-phones.
There were 28 college girls who attended earlier Anemia screening camps, some of them studying in high schools their mothers were also connected over the phone, Whatsapp to provide them with information about maintaining their health, personal hygiene, use of nutritious food, etc. Use of greens/leafy vegetables, fruits, sprouted grams/green grams and locally available vegetables, etc, are the key components given importance on maintaining the nutritious and healthy condition. To all the members (104) is the contact phone number from the Govt Karnataka health department shared for any specific health issues. Contacting local public health (CHC) for any health emergency is also the important points convey to all the beneficiaries. Some of them visited the Harohalli CHC and collect specific information with regard to their general health condition.
The CHC Doctors also shared information on Whatsapp and when their families visited the hospital. For some of the young girls, their family members (especially mothers) supported them to receive the information and sometimes on video calls. Most of the students connected individually to raise more and more awareness about the anemic conditions and also to take safety measures towards preventing Covid19 infection. All the students contacted, their family members were very happy having received the information about continuous awareness on Anemic conditions,s and expressed their gratitude to the project team-CHC Doctors. Some of them also mentioned that they will also share the information among their family, even to their friends and relatives using the same virtual platforms.
