Transgender people in South Korea continue to face discrimination, legal barriers, and growing anti-transgender hatred. This project will strengthen transgender communities and promote public understanding through educational resources, awareness campaigns, workshops, and peer support gatherings. By empowering transgender people and allies, we aim to reduce prejudice, expand support, and build a safer, more inclusive society.
Around the world, anti-transgender hatred is increasing, and South Korea is no exception. Transgender people continue to face discrimination, violence, and legal barriers, with limited protection and no comprehensive legal gender recognition system. They experience exclusion in education, employment, healthcare, and public life. To change this, we must challenge prejudice, increase public understanding, and build communities where transgender people can live safely and with dignity.
This project will build understanding and support for transgender people by expanding Haengseongin's Trans-Friendly Etiquette campaign. We will develop practical educational resources, carry out public awareness campaigns, and organize workshops and peer support gatherings where transgender people and allies can learn, connect, and take action together. By strengthening both community networks and public awareness, we aim to reduce prejudice and create safer, more inclusive communities.
By increasing the visibility of transgender people and expanding public understanding, this project will help reduce prejudice and build support for equality. Stronger community networks will empower transgender people to advocate for their rights and participate more actively in society. Over time, these efforts will contribute to legal and institutional reforms while creating safer, more inclusive communities where transgender people can live with dignity.
