Dear Supporters and Friends,
It has been five months since our successful completion of the Global Giving open challenge in which we raised over $7000 to help transport sick Palestinian children from Gaza to Israeli hospitals for critical medical treatment. Our permanent spot on the Global Giving web site helped us to attract new donors (in Israel and internationally) and to raise an additional $2000.
Donated funds allowed us to charter six minibus trips in September, eight trips in October, and eight trips in November. In each trip, about seven Palestinian patients and seven guardians or escorts were transported from Gaza to Augusta Victoria and Al-Makassed hospitals in east Jerusalem. We could not have done this work without charitable support from our donors, for which we are very grateful.
In recent months we have seen an increase in the number of requested trips from Gaza to hospitals in east Jerusalem, from about 250 trips a month, to about 400 trips a month. Consequently, we have raised the project goal to $15000 to reflect the increase in need for our transportation services for patients in Gaza.
With the latest surge in hostilities in Israel and the West Bank and Gaza, promoting trust on a personal level between Israelis and Palestinians is challenging. The gratitude we receive for the humanitarian assistance we provide to Palestinian patients demonstrates the effectiveness of our work in establishing constructive interaction between Israelis and Palestinians. Donations are essential for helping us continue this important mission throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Yuval Roth and The Road to Recovery US volunteer team
