The BMP in action

From February 8th to 28th, 2025, the Penelope Mobile Library (BMP) facilitator conducted several outings with the BMP to schools in the municipality of Houndé. This was an opportunity for him to conduct several activities with the students to encourage them to read and gradually develop a love of reading. On February 8th, 2025, BMP facilitator conducted his outing to schools A and D in the municipality of Houndé. These two schools are located in the same courtyard. Students from these two schools took advantage of the BMP's presence to come and read books and conduct other activities with the facilitator. This day of activities saw approximately thirty (30) children around the BMP. Guided free reading, drawing sessions, and puzzles were the highlights of the day. On February 11, he led his activities with the BMP at the C and F schools in Houndé. These two schools also share the same playground. The facilitator ran his daily activity program with 38 students. He led a guided reading session and a drawing session. He helped the students practice proper punctuation and word pronunciation. On February 12, the facilitator led his activities at School B and E. He welcomed 52 children that day and a visit from the school principal. The principal came to encourage the students who were present and take a look at the books we make available to the students. He encouraged the work of the association before leaving. On February 13, the facilitator led his activities at Saint Thérèse de Jésus Primary School. There, the courtyard is very shaded. The students feel comfortable reading. The facilitator from the BMP welcomed about fifty children. In addition to the guided free reading, the facilitator took the opportunity to raise awareness to encourage them to read more and succeed.

On February 14th, the BMP facilitator held a workshop at the Lokihoun school. Several activities were held with the students, including guided reading, math games, and alphabet games. The children greatly enjoyed the math and alphabet games. They promised the facilitator they would conduct these activities again on their next visit. He continued his activities on February 18th with a trip to Elementary Schools A and D, with 49 children in attendance, and on February 19th with a trip to Schools C and F, with a total of 22 children conducting the same activities. On February 20th, the facilitator conducted his activities at Schools B and E. He encouraged 49 children to enjoy reading. On February 21st, he visited Schools C and F, with a total of 38 children participating in the activities. On February 22nd, he led a workshop at Saint Thérèse de Jésus School with 40 students and on February 25th at Lokihoun School with 36 students. During these two days, he read several CMH books with the students to give them a taste for reading and fun games. On February 26th, he visited School C and F. He led his activities with about twenty (20) children. They came to read and play educational games. On February 27th, 2025, he led his activities at School B and E with 39 children and on February 28th at Saint Thérèse de Jésus School with 49 children. It should be noted that during the month of February 2025, the Penelope Mobile Library received a total of approximately 525 readers. The activities were also diverse and rich in lessons for the children. The children were given substances to boost their levels. For the BMP facilitator, games such as puzzles and card games could help them engage with the children even more.
