Wow, where do we start in terms of all that is happening at ICPCN in order to transform children’s palliative care globally. We have just returned from a very busy World Health Assembly in Geneva where we participated in three side events, including one of the official side events where the new WHO guidelines on access to controlled medicines were launched. Julia has been the co-Chair for the guidelines and spoke at the launch – you can find more information about it here.
We are moving full steam ahead towards our conference being held in Manila from the 12th-15th November – please do come and join us as we celebrate all that is happening for children’s palliative care around the world, as well as our 20th Birthday! The theme of the conference is milestones and horizons and whilst celebrating the milestones we also look ahead as to how we can continue to develop children’s palliative care around the world.
We are celebrating our 20th anniversary by collating stories from around the world, from families, health professionals, former ICPCN board members etc as well as examples of children’s palliative care programmes from around the world – we also hope to put together a celebratory publication that will be launched at our conference. Recently we published the results of our mapping exercise for 2023 and have started to redo the mapping for 2025 so that we will be able to chart the difference over the 20 years that ICPCN has been working to improve access to children’s palliative care.
We continue to build capacity across the world for children’s palliative care and have been supporting a virtual training programme for Pakistan and EMRO and next week we launch one for Latin America which will be our first training programme conducted in Spanish. This has bene made possible as we now have three new members of staff, one of whom is based in Mexico and is Spanish speaking which is great news!
Please do check out our website for ongoing news about ICPCN and children’s palliative care globally, and to read our 20th anniversary series (Part 1 and Part 2)!
Thank you again for your continued support.
