Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are excited to share recent events and impactful discussions that are driving change and protecting children's rights in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Sulochana Segera and Women in Management Sri Lanka organised a truly transformative event for TFT in Colombo. This event allowed us to connect with inspiring, award-winning women entrepreneurs and discuss the heartbreaking plight of Sri Lanka’s forgotten children, who are deprived not only of love and laughter but the beauty of life itself.

The event provided a powerful platform to brainstorm and engage in meaningful discussions about the urgent need to replace orphanages with loving homes for children in institutions. We explored the critical role of foster care in the deinstitutionalisation process. Advocating and raising awareness is not just important—it is imperative. Thank you for your support in being part of this movement for change.

We were honored to join a UNICEF panel discussion on the abolition of corporal punishment at the National Museum in Colombo, just a day after the new policy was adopted. Our Founder said "I naively assumed everyone would welcome the move to protect children from violence. However, there was significant concern about how to implement this societal change and discipline children effectively without resorting to physical punishment."

Despite these strides, we have been unable to host any more training sessions with the national government or local communities due to budget restraints. However, we remain hopeful that funding will come soon, enabling us to restart these crucial activities. Our goal is to finally begin closing our first orphanage and start the first foster care pilot in the south of Sri Lanka.

These events highlight the importance of continued advocacy and raising awareness to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children. Your support is crucial in driving these changes and ensuring a better future for the children of Sri Lanka. We are grateful for your commitment and look forward to your continued support as we work towards these critical goals.

Thank you for being part of this vital journey.

Warm regards,

Joel
