Academics
All the classes have had their 1st Summative Examinations of this academic year. The results were announced in the last week of September and a mandatory parent teacher meeting was scheduled along with analysis of report cards. The idea was to learn about children’s growth both in and out of the classroom. The Principal and teachers are now in the process of assessing students’ areas of improvmenet and devising remedial plans.
A Learnometer Test was conducted in August by XSEED, a research-based academic program for schools. The multiple choice test assesses how well students understand their study well enough to apply it to existing and new situations. It tests skills across 3 levels - English reading, comprehension, and mathematics.
Students participated in a G.K. Olympiad organized in school.
Sports
The school concluded the 10th PYDS Annual Sports Day. Post monsoons in Purkal, we started with preparations for the Sports Day, encouraging participation from all students and staff.
The students from all the classes participated in sports including kabaddi, basketball, kho-kho, relay races or others.
Project FUEL and friendly life lessons -
There has been a recent development in the school – the launch of a book titled Amazing Life Lessons.
Deepak Ramola, the mastermind of Project FUEL (an acronym for Forward the Understanding of Every Life Lesson) is convinced that life lessons can be learned from everyone, around the globe. It is this idea that inspired him to help us explore this potential. The educational exercise led 75 members of our staff recall inspirational stories from their lives and draw life lessons to impart to our children.
These have been framed and exhibited on walls around our campus to inspire, intrigue and teach not only students but all who come across them. Congratulations to Project FUEL for this brilliant idea, executed with the help of PYDS students trained in videography, sound recording, interviewing skills etc.
