In the recent quarter, children have excitedly accepted fresh challenges and activities that come with a new academic year. All students above class 8 participated with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi to celebrate International Yoga Day on 21st June 2018, held in FRI, Dehradun.
An educational 1400km roundtrip through Uttarakhand, with humble stay arrangements but adventurous outdoor experiences, was organized. Children were taken on mountainous treks and exposed to local Kumaoni culture and its traditions. They visited many places, were quizzed along the way, and discovered many interesting facts about the State they belong to. Teamwork led to friendships and trust.
Simone, a Lawn Tennis coach from Italy, volunteered at Purkal for 10 days. This was organized by Planet Urgence. Our students took full advantage of his skills and learnt sportsmanship and athletic manoeuvres which will definitely help them perform well in sports.
A Literature Fest was organized in WIC, Dehradun, where students of class 8 participated in a poem writing competition. Naina of class 8-B won a prize. It was a creative learning experience for them.
Beneficiaries at Purkal are always encouraged to take part in different Olympiads and they excel in this field. Participation in extracurricular activities is encouraged along with the academic structure of classes. The students show their creativity and delve whole heartedly into different activities.
The next quarter highlights are the SA examinations and the Annual Sports Day. There is huge excitement among students for the Independence Day celebration.
