Thank you for donating to our Teacher Training programs in the past. We haven’t received any donations to this project recently, but we continue to try to offer workshops through general donations to Love to Langa.
We wanted to introduce two of the teachers at Mfuleni Early Childhood Centre who have been helped by our programs. The first is Caroline. In January 2010, Caroline brought her child to school during her pregnancy and witnessed that the kitchen lady was having trouble keeping up with her duties, such as serving the children a hot porridge. She immediately stepped in to help. She volunteered for a month until she left to deliver her baby and came back after two months. The principal noticed her passion for the children and employed her as a assistant teacher. She was encouraged to further her education and attended college part time to get her level 1 for early childhood development and is currently doing her level 4.
Caroline has shown leadership abilities with staff and parents. She acts as bursar to receive school fees and takes on the responsibility of locking up the school in the evening. Caroline is now happily improving her computer skills by attending weekly training. She is always friendly and willing to help anyone in need. She has become an asset to the school in many ways. Principal Sandra says, “Caroline is my right hand and ensure that the school runs like a well oiled machine when I am not around!”
Masanda arrived at the school gate in April 2013 to enquire about employment opportunities. She was advised by the principal to volunteer and if a vacancy as an assistant teacher opened up, it would be offered to her. She is currently doing her level 4 training and has mastered her computer skills. She now performs administrative work in addition to teaching. Masanda will always be found during her lunch break in the computer room working on theme posters, class registers, letters to parents. She is always happy and eager to work. "Masanda craves knowledge and I will empower her as much as possible," says Principal Sandra.
We hope you will see how valuable our teacher training programs are and will continue to support them in the future!
